Mr. Ravindra Prasad Jaiswal

Mr. Ravindra Prasad Jaiswal assumed charge as Ambassador of India to Republic of the Sudan, with concurrent accreditation to the State of Eritrea, on 14th January 2018.

In his earlier postings as Foreign Service Officer to Indian Missions in various countries, he has looked after varied areas of work, including as a trainee officer and thereafter heading Information Wing as Second Secretary at Cairo (Egypt) from 2001-2004; had stint as Second Secretary/First Secretary handling Political, Cultural, Information, Administration, Consular, Labour and Community Welfare work at varied times at Doha (Qatar) from 2004-2007; and looking after Political and Bilateral Developmental Partnership work as First Secretary at Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) from 2010-2011. Before assuming charge as Ambassador of India to Sudan and Eritrea, he was Deputy Chief of Mission in Embassy of India, Berne (Switzerland).

At the Ministry’s Headquarters, New Delhi, he has had stints in various territorial divisions including as trainee officer in the Gulf Division from 2000-2001; as Desk Officer in the West Europe division from 2007-2010; and as Desk Officer and later as Director in the Southern Division from 2011-2014.

He is a Civil engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and an M. Phil in Environmental sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

His date of birth is 13 December, 1970. He is married to Mrs. Amrita Jaiswal and the couple has one 15 years old son. Apart from professional work, his areas of interest are adventure sports like hiking, trekking and reading etc.
