Mr. Amrit Lugun

Mr. Amrit Lugun assumed his responsibilities as Ambassador of India to Sudan on August 22, 2015. Before joining Khartoum, he was Ambassador of India to Yemen.

He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1989 and worked in various capacities in Doha (June 1995 – September 1998), Paris (October 1998 – December 2001), Algiers (January 2002 – August 2004), Manila (March 2009-September 2010) and Kathmandu (Director in the SAARC Secretariat). At Headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs, he served as Desk Officer for India Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme from July 1993 to June 1995 and as Director at Eurasia and Latin America Divisions from September 2004 to December 2008.

Mr. Lugun successfully completed the 46th National Security and Strategic Studies Course at National Defence College, New Delhi.

Mr. Lugun is married to Mrs. Asha Mamta Lugun and has a son and a daughter.
